What is an altruas token?

 An altruas token is made of solid metal and features an appreciation message for a range of situations:  kindness, courage, or dedication.  On the reverse side of each token is a unique QR code that automatically links to easy recipient instructions when scanned with a mobile phone.

  The idea is that each of us sees or experiences random acts of kindness,  courage or skill in our everyday lives and don’t always have easy ways to acknowledge them:

• A generous person demonstrating compassion and assistance to someone in need 

• A brave individual that speaks up or has the valor to do what isn’t always easy 

• or even the exceptional competence & commitment of a talented service provider that makes our life a little easier...

Each of these moments are fleeting but powerful reminders, proving that positive actions can make the world better and recognizing them reinforces the momentum! 

  As inspiring moments present themselves, the holder of a token can pass it to a worthy recipient in recognition of their remarkable actions when they see it. This requires nothing formal nor complicated, rather a simple gesture of acknowledgement. The recipient can later scan the token and anonymously journal their brief story (why and how they received their token) and subsequently pass it along to another well-intentioned person when an inspiring moment occurs. That’s it ! 

    There is no cost, catch or obligation – it’s just our way of encouraging and celebrating positive actions, one individual at a time. As a non-profit organization, we hope the idea of passing along a token allows receivers and givers alike to experience the joy of positive, meaningful actions that can be transformed into a viral movement.

  So here is a really cool part: When you, as the recipient, scan a token, you have the option of providing us with an email. By doing so, we will host you a private page, dedicated to that unique token, complete with an interactive map that shows where the token has journeyed and where it continues to travel over time. The smallest acts of kindness, courage or skill do change the world, and you can then be notified each time your token makes it’s mark.
